A presentation and discussion by Hertie School Fellow Jennifer Morgan and Senior Research Fellow Marian Feist. Hosted by the Centre for Sustainability.
The Brazilian presidency of this year’s UN climate summit set out the ambition to move from goal-setting to implementation. A new fund for tropical forests and a possible roadmap for fossil-fuel phaseout were two prominent elements of this ambition. Parties grappled with a number of additional issues, including the Global Goal for Adaptation and climate finance. All this took place in a changing global context, notably illustrated by the absence of the United States.
At this Centre for Sustainability event, former State Secretary and Special Envoy for International Climate Action for the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Jennifer Morgan, and Senior Research Fellow Dr. Marian Feist will reflect on the outcomes and dynamics of the summit. Following their inputs, there will be the opportunity to discuss and ask questions.
