Thales Vieira is a second-year Master of Public Policy student at the Hertie School, supported by the Climate Action Scholarship. His academic interests include social welfare policies, climate justice, and inequalities. He holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration from FGV EAESP in São Paulo, specializing in sustainability and international relations. Thales's academic journey has taken him to different parts of the world, including a semester at LUISS Guido Carli in Rome. Before Hertie, he worked for five years in government relations, partnering with municipal, state, and federal governments in Brazil on sustainability and human development projects and contributing to national regulatory frameworks.
Thales is currently completing his Professional Year (PY) at GIZ, working on international climate and biodiversity projects and supporting governments in the implementation of global biodiversity targets.
Based in Bonn, he enjoys staying active through sports and cycling along the Rhine or through nearby towns and villages. He also likes exploring new parts of Germany, often taking weekend trips. As an outgoing and energetic person, he enjoys going to parties and experiencing the local social scene.
